Frank J. Hanna is an Atlanta-based entrepreneur, businessman and philanthropist.
Frank Hanna is CEO of Hanna Capital in Atlanta, Georgia, a firm that he runs with his brother, David Hanna. Hanna Capital invests as a merchant banker in financial service businesses. Previously, Frank Hanna was a corporate attorney with Troutman Sanders of Atlanta.
Mr. Hanna has been involved in education for the last 25 years. He has been instrumental in the formation of three new Catholic schools in Atlanta. Frank Hanna served on the boards of Holy Spirit Preparatory School and the Solidarity School. Holy Spirit Prep has been recognized as among the Top 50 Catholic High Schools in the country.
Frank Hanna is a frequent speaker regarding issues of faith as they pertain to business. He frequently speaks on the topic of business and philanthropy. His has written a book titled "What Your Money Means" that deal explicitly with this topic. He has spoken to Catholic leaders at conferences at the Vatican and in meetings with the leadership of the Catholic bishops' conference.
Frank Hanna was named a Knight of the Grand Cross in the Order of St. Gregory by Pope Benedict XVI. He also serves as a Knight of Malta, a Knight of the Holy Sepulchre, a board member of the Papal Foundation, a board member of the St. John Vianney Seminary, and a board member of the University of Sacramento.
Frank Hanna continues to support those groups that further the messages of educational and religious liberty that he believes are so important, including the Federalist Society, the Becket Fund, and the Acton Institute, where he sits on the board.
During the administration of George W. Bush, Frank Hanna was appointed and served as the co-chair of the President’s Advisory Commission on Educational Excellence for Hispanic Americans, where he oversaw the production and delivery of its report to the President entitled, "From Risk to Opportunity."
Frank Hanna is the founder of the Solidarity Association, which has been instrumental in many charitable efforts. For example, The Solidarity Association serves as Trustee of the Mater Verbi/Hanna Papyrus Trust, which guards the oldest copy of the Gospel of Luke (and the oldest copy of the Lord’s Prayer) in the world.
In recognition of his charitable efforts, Frank Hanna has received the William B. Simon Prize for Philanthropic Leadership, and the David R. Jones Award for Philanthropic Leadership, awarded by the Fund for American Studies.
Frank Hanna is a former Sunday School teacher and has coached Little League soccer and basketball. He received his BBA and JD degrees from the University of Georgia.
